Description SAXONVILLE AND SIMPSON'S POND, FROM WEST SIDE

Moving further north up Water Street and looking back, the view is of the mill pond. Again, the smokestack is the only landmark common to both pictures. The long building at the right was built just four years before the 1880 view by Michael Simpson as housing for factory workers. It still stands, although hidden behind the brush in the 1980 view taken from the back parking lot of the White Hen Pantry convenience store.
