Published by Tichnor Bros, Tichnor Quality Views The oldest part of the house was built by Joseph Stone around 1720. Abner Wheeler, who operated a store and hotel in the Centre, bought it in 1809. In the 1930's and for about three decades thereafter it was a restaurant, the "Abner Wheeler House." Today the site at Route 9 and Main Street is known as Deerskin Plaza.
