Voices from Edgell Grove Cemetery

Saturday, October 28, 2017 @ 4:00PM
53 Grove Street, Framingham
(Rain date Sunday, November 5th)

A spooky Halloween tradition that began at the Old Burying Ground has moved to this beautiful “garden cemetery” modeled after Mount Auburn in Cambridge.  Join us for a stroll and visit with some of the luminaries buried here.  You will hear from: Mary Eames who was the first person interred at Edgell Grove; mapmaker—Warren Nixon; General George Gordon and his wife Lizzie; historian, Josiah Temple, and a Revolutionary War soldier who died of smallpox and was reinterred in the soldier’s lot before developers destroyed his original grave behind Framingham’s “pest house”.  There are others who are waiting to tell you their tales, but we don’t want to spoil their surprise!

Content is most suited for ages 8+ and wear appropriate footwear for hilly terrain.  Refreshments following the tour at Plymouth Church.

Tickets are $10/FHC members, $15/non-members, $20/family, and $5/ages 8-18. Purchase tickets below or mail checks to FHC P.O. Box 2032, Framingham, MA 01703. Tickets may be purchased on the day of event if we haven’t sold out…. Questions? Call 508-626-9091.
