Description STATE NORMAL SCHOOL

Alexander Rice Esty designed the original building of the State Normal School at Framingham (now Framingham State College) when the school was relocated from Lexington to Bare Hill in 1853. The original building burned in the late 1880s and was replaced by the romanesque red brick May Hall soon afterward. May Hall now appears on Framingham's town seal.
